ED #20 - Education Resolution -

AS PROPOSED BY PC(S):

Be it Resolved,
that the Republican Party of Texas call for the Governor and the Texas Legislature to enact legislation to improved our public schools so that they once again focus on academics, reading, writing, true science and true history and civics and common sense discipline while eliminating from our public schools, education being taught through the lens of psychology, (Blooms Taxonomy), whose primary goal is to change our children’s values and behavior while proficiency in reading and math and true science and history and common sense discipline is incidental.  Proficiency in this basic education will enable them to discern the truth where God is the measure, not man, so that they have a foundation to be self-governing, happy individuals, and
Therefore be it Further Resolved,
that parents can choose another public school for their children if their school is not teaching their children reading and math at grade level, and
that the Republican Party of Texas show strong support for both private school and home school autonomy by not recommending any form of government funding including tax credits for private schools and home schools, for liberty is the best foundation for education our children, without government regulation.  Government funding will result in the loss of private school and home school autonomy, bringing them under the jurisdiction of the government, effectively making them public schools. This will take away the parents’ freedom to determine the goal and content of their children’s education. It will also reduce the choices parents have for their children, because all schools will be government regulated public schools.
